Responsibilities

  • Position requires independent action and thinking on a continual basis.  Must be able to work in an independent manner.  Must be responsible for setting priorities.  Must be able to anticipate the needs of physicians, administrative staff, and participating entities.
  • Expected to work additional hours when necessary to attend meetings and complete assignments on a timely basis.  May be expected to travel occasionally to attend meetings in order to maintain credentialing proficiency and maintain industry standards.
  • Must maintain regular contact with physicians and participating entities.  Contact requires a high degree of diplomacy and sound judgment to maintain professional and efficient relationships with the physicians, administrative staff, and participating entities.
  • Maintain paper files in orderly fashion.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant credentialing standards (JCAHO, NCQA, etc.)
  • Conduct quality control and performance improvement process for the credentialing office.
  • Participate in the marketing, implementation, and orientation of new participating entities and changes such entities may make to existing credentialing requirements.
  • Promote the mission and values of the South Bend Clinic in all activities and interactions.
  • Responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of data relating to physicians and participating entities.
  • Exhibits computer systems knowledge and proficiency as necessary to perform job functions.
  • Takes initiative to seek out tasks and duties or to assist others as necessary.
  • Performs other duties assigned when appropriate.
  • Adheres to HIPAA guidelines set forth in Clinic policies and procedures.

Qualifications

 Education/Certification/License

  • High school diploma or equivalent with two years post-secondary education with an emphasis on Credentialing services.         

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Prior experience as an executive secretary, administrative assistant or equivalent in a health care organization is preferred. 
  • Prior experience in health care credentialing is optimal. 
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and business management concepts desired. 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and credentialing software is preferred. 
  • English composition skills are required. 
  • Must posses the ability to prioritize tasks and complete such tasks in order of importance. 

Special Demands/Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel to main campus and satellite offices as needed.
