Responsibilities

  •  Histologist must demonstrate technical competency including the following categories
    a. Embedding tissue with correct orientation according to established protocol
    b. Cutting tissue blocks with high quality microtomy
    c. Grossing/dissecting patient samples with care according to the established protocol
    d. Special Stains must be done manually with proper quality control performed
    e. Performs IHC staining with proper quality control.
    f. Basic troubleshooting of histology procedures
  • Clerical components of the Histology lab promote proper communication and chain of custody within Duly and other Medical Institutions 
    a. Maintenance logs are filled out daily to ensure machines are working at optimal function and at the proper laboratory conditions
  •  RL6 investigation and support.
    a. Effectively reports and investigates patient safety incidents, medical errors and potential risks in the facility
    b. Assists with identification and implementation of corrective action where appropriate
    c. Responsible for investigating issues such as turn-around-times with the lab, problems receiving supplies, patient issues and concerns, and will be responsible for forwarding these issues to the correct leadership

Qualifications

Education 

  • Histology Technologist (HTL) preferred
  • Histology Laboratory Technician (HT) preferred
  • Issued by (Governing Body)
    ASCP – American Society for Clinical Pathology
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, allied health science or related discipline.
  • Field of Study
    • Foreign educated candidates must provide a detailed credential evaluation from the IERF (International Education Research Foundation).
    • United States educated candidates must provide a detailed original transcript

Experience 

  • We accept new graduates from histology programs
  • Previous experience in a hospital or reference laboratory a plus
  • Certification preferred within 1 year of hire date.

 

The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $28-42, with the actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
