• Schedules radiology appointments, including imaging procedures and any related follow-up care.
• Coordinates scheduling for outpatient and hospital-based imaging services.
• Arranges any required assistance or special accommodations for specific imaging procedures.
• Obtains prior authorizations and ensures patients complete all required office/hospital/facility forms.
• Ensures all patients receive preparation instructions for imaging procedures and documents this in their chart.
• Reviews recall lists monthly and schedules patients for follow-up imaging as needed.
• Handles phone calls from patients/family members regarding scheduled imaging appointments.
• Maintains accurate provider and department schedules for all imaging procedures.
• When scheduling procedures, communicates any special equipment or personnel needs, including coordination with vendors if applicable.
• Obtains required labs and prior imaging studies per protocol and ensures readiness for scheduled procedures.
• Maintains up-to-date scheduling records, including accurate entry into Epic.
• Documents informative messages for providers utilizing the EMR system per departmental protocols.
• Ensures adequate supplies and materials are available to support scheduling workflow.
• Verifies demographic and insurance information when scheduling procedures.
• Reinforces instructions and provides general explanations of imaging procedures per protocol.
• Works with the Practice Manager to optimize scheduling templates and provider availability.
• Exhibits the attitudes and behaviors consistent with The South Bend Clinic Service Standards.

Education/Certification/License:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Previous experience in scheduling is preferred. Must have prior computer experience. Position requires constant and frequent judgment and response. Must have excellent communication and grammar skills. Must be
  detail oriented. Must have good follow through, be able to multi-task, and possess sound judgment.
